Ridenour Academy’s “Opening Act” and “Headliner” programs were created to educate, inspire, and empower singers, songwriters, and musicians of all ages and skill levels across middle Tennessee. This world-class program and curriculum will become the standard by which all others will be measured.
In addition to Ridenour Academy’s “Opening Act” and “Headliner” programs, every student will also have the opportunity for a deeper dive in quarterly workshops and music camps taught by Nashville music industry veterans in the areas of:
Stage Presence and Performance
Marketing and Branding
“Opening Act” is designed for students just beginning their musical journey. It focuses first and foremost on instrument knowledge and proficiency balanced with instruction on feel and interpretation.
Once the student has achieved a predetermined level of success with their instrument, they are coached on our main stage “The Alley” in the art of stage presence. Topics covered include stage movement/blocking, eye contact, and facial expressions as well as mic technique, band member interaction and the use of props.
From day one, students will work with their instructor on songs designated for instrument proficiency and others for showcase consideration. Our “All Roads Lead to the Stage” approach provides the student with a path to performance immediately by promoting and encouraging strong goal setting. At Ridenour, showcasing is not something you are entitled to, it is earned.
In every “Opening Act” showcase, the student will first play their chosen showcase song solo in its entirety after which they are joined on stage by all of the instructors in a group setting and perform the song again as a band. This enables the student to have a better understanding of what it feels like to work with others to bring their songs to life!
Through a series of “Opening Act” showcases, the student moves closer for consideration in our “Headliner” program!
In “Headliner” program, the student continues to hone their craft by tackling more advanced pieces of music as well as learning the art of arranging while also perfecting their stage presence and having more opportunities to “headline” upcoming showcases!
